Gun Law Information Requested
Posted by: | CommentsREADER Q&A
Q: I have a friend who moved from PA to AZ. He has 2 hand gun’s that his dad gave him. His dad passed away and the gun’s are not in his name. Can he sell them or will he need to transfer them into his name?
A: You are under the misconception that guns are “registered” in someone’s name. Neither PA or AZ have gun registration. This is not like a car or real estate property that is actually deeded or titled. If the deceased father in fact gave the son the guns, then the guns are the property of the son to sell as he wishes. Now, for your own records, ask for a simple Bill of Sale on the guns, so that you can document who you got them from.

What Kind Of Rifle Scope & Mounts Should I Use?
Posted by: | CommentsREADER Q&A:
I have a .22 LR marlin 39a rifle and the scope I have is an Armsport scope. I am not sure if they are any good. I got one in really good condition no scratches or anything for 7 bucks at a yard sale..it is a 4×15. Would any type of scope mount work for it? Is the scope i got any good and was it a good buy for what I paid for it?
Take it to a local gunshop that has a gunsmith. Ask them for the mounts and rings for this gun and scope. Do not go to one of the major chain stores for this sort of thing. The 39A works well with the Weaver mounts. There are rings available for both the 1″ scope tubes and the 3/4″ tubes.
If it turns out that you do not like the results of your current purchase, you can do some comparison shopping at Rifle Scopes.
Has Your Shotgun Use Decreased Due To The Increased Price Of Lead Shot?
Posted by: | CommentsREADER Q&A
Apparently, the price of lead shot has increased, which has caused sales of lead shot to decline. Are there people out there who are sensitive to the price of led shot?
Fortunately I saw this coming and stocked up on lead shot and loaded/reloadable hulls. I have about 5K of empty compression formed AA hulls about the same of Remington STS. I got a couple hundred pounds of lead shot in sizes that I commonly use. Then I also have 2, 20mm ammo cans packed full of shotshells in various loadings. I am also looking into making a furnace to produce lead shot from scrap wheel weights I stocked for casting pistol bullets. I am the cheapo “bubba” everyone speaks of. So, no, the price change hasn’t effected me yet, but it would have if I didn’t have my supplies.
